Shadow Complex Review

Shadow Complex is a 2D/3D game exclusively made for the Xbox 360 arcade and is downloadable only. It is very similar to the styling of the old 2D Metroid games from Nintendo. This game quickly became my favorite arcade game, and is sucking up my Twitter and personal time. It was developed by Chair Entertainment, and Epic Games. It uses the Unreal 3 Engine and is a true labor of love. You can see that the production of this game is top notch. You play as James Flemming, a normal guy who is out with his girlfriend Claire backpacking in the mountains. Claire wanders off by herself to explore some caves. James goes after her with a flashilght. He finds her being dragged into the cave by some heavily armored guys. You wind up in the complex unraveling a plot by the soldiers to blow up parts of the United States, while trying to rescue Claire. In a word this game is stunning. The graphics are the best ever for an Xbox Liive Arcade game. It animates great with the occasional glitch here and there. The explosions are done very well. The weapon sounds are authentic. The water looks realistic. I highly recommend this game to any fan of old 2D style action games. A9.0 out of 10.
